  1. Black History Learning Hub: Curated Media + Courses + Teaching Resources

Project: Black History & Culture Resource Hub (Staff Self-Directed Learning)

Context / Problem
The school I worked at during the time of creating this is mission-driven around social justice, but many of our staff members are international and have limited background knowledge of U.S. racial history and social justice frameworks. This gap sometimes manifested as misunderstandings, missed opportunities for culturally responsive teaching, and uneven depth of instruction, especially around sensitive topics.

Solution
I created a curated, accessible resource hub on Black history and culture to provide staff with a clear starting point. The collection is organized by format (videos, podcasts, books, films, courses, curricular resources) so educators can choose the method that fits their language needs, learning style, and schedule, and engage at their own pace.

Impact
The resource hub lowered the “where do I even start?” barrier for teachers and increased comfort engaging with a complex topic. Staff expressed gratitude for a structured entry point, which reduced common missteps that can occur when educators are learning in a second language or navigating an unfamiliar cultural context.

Skills demonstrated
Learning curation • DEI/SEL learning support • Knowledge management • Accessibility-first design • Stakeholder empathy • Change support in multicultural environments

Presented to all staff at the beginning of the year, when expectations of personal work were explained. Reintroduced to all International staff/members of the Mandarin Language and Spanish Language path instructional teams in a specific PD session preceding Black History Month.
